Description
This report explores the current landscape of investments targeting the social determinants of health (SDH) as well as approaches to accelerate the uptake of SDH investments into healthcare business operations through key informant interviews with healthcare payer and provider executives, an extensive literature review, and the convening of an Advisory Council and a Social Services Forum to obtain insights and feedback on the formulated hypotheses and suggested approaches. The report establishes a common definition of “social service investment,” describes common barriers to social service investments, and builds the business case for social service investments. Case studies of investments are provided.
